DIY Tools and Equipment everyone should have
This is a list of some of the basic DIY tools, but there are a lot more that could be used
- General purpose tool kit
It’s always good to to have a good variety of general purpose tools like hammers, spanners, screwdrivers and an assortment of screws and nails. A box with separate compartments is a good way to organise all your tools and nails.
- Drills
A drill may be used for a variety of tasks, whether its making a new cupboard or fixing a door. Getting a battery powered, multipurpose drill would be a good choice. Don’t forget to get a range a different drill bits in various sizes so you’re prepared for anything!
- Wrenches
Having one or two adjustable wrenches would be useful, because you can adjust its jaws for fitting around various sized nuts and bolts. Some wrenches can even be adjusted without removing the bolt to be tightened, which is known as self-ratcheting.
- Hammers
Getting one lightweight and one heavyweight hammer is a basic necessity for your toolbox. Remember, the hammer’s size should suit the size of the nail. In other words, a bigger nail needs a heavier hammer. A claw hammer is a heavyweight hammer that’s good for doing big outdoor and construction projects. For more lightweight tasks like fastening tacks and pins, a pin hammer is recommenced.
- Pliers
Buy some pliers in a range of sizes and types. Locking pliers are good multipurpose tool for gripping things. To adjust large valves and pipes, get channel-lock pliers. If you like to craft things or need to reach small, tight spaces then needle-nosed pliers are the ones to use. Pliers for electricians can cut and strip away wires and cables and have a fine point.
